South Australian Chess Association as part of its long term participation with Bay Sports Festival presents the Australian Allegro Chess Championship on Tuesday 26 December at the Glenelg Community Centre.
The Australian Allegro Chess Championship holds one of the largest and strongest fields of competitive chess players in the South Australian calendar. With faster time constraints of 15 minutes for each player per game, the allegro format of chess offers a quicker pace for players and spectators whilst still allowing enough time for players to perform deep calculations and play at a high standard. Comprising of 7 rounds throughout the day the allegro often creates a tight finish in the final round with usually the two strongest players going ‘head-to-head’ for the grand prize.
